How to create a Work Smart Tips Sheet

Use our free online Work Smart Tips programme to create health and safety information and resources for workers and workplaces. You can either get going quickly with our selection of 'Ready made' Work Smart Tips sheets, or you can create a customised Work Smart Tips sheet with your own selection of tips and stretches.

Get going quickly with our Ready Made Work Smart Tips sheet

  1. Click 'Get started' on the homepage to begin.
  2. On the 'Choose your workplace' page, hover over a workplace, and select the 'Ready Made' option in the pop-up box that appears.
  3. Now you can look at the ready made tips sheet for your industry. Click the 'Enlarge' button on its thumbnail to see what it looks like. When you're done, click the 'X' at top right.
  4. Click on the ready made tips sheet thumbnail and its border will turn green. Click the 'Add details' button at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Now you can put in your company name and your worker's name. Click the 'Preview your tips sheet' button if you want to see what your details look like, otherwise just click the green 'Export your tips sheet' button at the bottom of the page.
  6. Now you can download your tips sheet as a PDF file. You can either just print it out and discard the PDF file, or you can save the PDF file onto your computer to use again later. Please note that you need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print your tips sheet PDF file. Download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Create a customised Work Smart Tips sheet with your own selection of tips and stretches

  1. Click ‘Get started' on the homepage to start.
  2. On the 'Choose your workplace' page, hover over a workplace and select the 'Create new’ option in the pop-up box that appears.
  3. Now you can add your worker's name and/or your company name and logo to your tips sheet. Note that you’ll be able to see what they look like after you've laid out the rest of your tips sheet. Click the ‘Layout your tips sheet' button at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Now all the tips and stretches for the industry you've selected are available on screen (scroll down to see more), and you can search by category in the 'Show me' box if you want.
  5. At left is a panel where you lay out your tips sheet – the tips sheet creation area. Click on the tips you want and drag them onto the tips sheet creation area (it has moving arrows to show you where to drag).
    • Edit your tips – you'll find that many tips can be edited once they are in the tips sheet creation area. Click the ‘Edit tip’ button, make your changes and then click 'Save'. Have a play to get the feel for how it works – it’s fun!
    • Add another page to your tips sheet – if you've filled up a tips sheet page and you want to add another one, click the 'Add page’ button in the tips sheet creation area.
    • Preview – click the 'Preview' button in the tips sheet creation area to see what your tips sheet looks like.
    • Note – if the tips sheet creation area won't shut down so you can see the tips on the left, hover over one or more of the tips that are half hidden by the tips sheet creation area. It may take a few seconds but it should pop back. If it won't, refresh your browser page – you won't lose your tips selection.
Once you are happy with your tips sheet, click the green ‘Export your tips sheet' button at the bottom of the page.
